Skin Relief - When Tattoos Go Bad

If you already have a tattoo, then you know exactly how much thought went into choosing the design. And in some cases it may not have been an awful lot...

For some people there's a lot of planning and then consulting with the artist before an initial design is even reached. After all, this is permanent art for your skin right? It's a serious business.

Then there's your more casual tattoo customer which ranges from the impulsive "I'm getting a tattoo this weekend, I'll choose one in the shop", right through to the instantly regretted 'holiday tattoo' or the 'partner dedication' for someone you only just recently met!

It won't surprise you to find it's that last category that most often seek out the services of a tattoo removal specialist (I like Wellington tattoo removal if they happen to be in your area - also on Facebook). But it might surprise you to find that even the most dedicated body art fans sometimes want an old piece of work removed. You can also fade them just enough to have new artwork over the top, so it's possible to 'upgrade' to a higher quality piece too.

The process itself is now very effective, especially using the most up to date laser machines. Forget the old days of acid based creams and surgically removing skin (yes, that used to happen!). Once you've seen modern laser removal at work done you'll think it's practically miraculous - the fading effect from the very first treatment is incredible. And the side effects aren't too bad either. You'll get some discomfort, and soreness afterwards, but scarring of the skin is typically minimal if visible at all. It's no beauty treatment but it's very impressive for something that used to be a permanent life decision.

Make sure you talk it through fully with a specialist before you start your first treatment though. The cost and effectiveness of the results do depend on the tattoo you have - especially the size, the colors used and the coverage. But there really is no need these days to suffer a bad tattoo choice, you really can get it removed.

Warning: This Product Will Be 'Eaten' By Your Skin

baby eatingWe don't eat skincare products - what are you talking about!?

Well, simply that your skin absorbs the products you put on it. All those lotions and potions wouldn't work at all otherwise. To 'moisturize' your skin, that product has to be absorbed into your skin. And from there what stops it being absorbed into your bloodstream... just like the food you put in your stomach..?

This is why we advise extra care when choosing skincare and beauty products. If you think a product is so toxic that you'd be scared to swallow any of it - then why on earth would you want to put that product on your skin? I'm not recommending eating any beauty products of course, but you get the idea.

Further Tips On Beauty Products To Avoid

The first thing to do is to avoid cheap make up. It may seem like you're getting a great deal on things you need, but the real truth is that cheap make up is made of lower quality products (and potentially ones you'd be best to avoid for health reasons!). These lower quality materials will lead to make up caking, or running when you need them to stay put. Then your look is ruined, and that great deal you got turned out to not be so great. So avoid that, and be ready to pay a fair amount for proper make up.

Look out for products that contain ingredients other countries no longer allow. Some countries take a lot longer to update laws, but if an ingredient has already been banned in the USA for example, do you want to carry on using it..? An example here is for skin whitening creams, where many traditionally used ingredients such as mercury or hydroquinone are gradually being banned or heavily controlled in the amount that can be used. Why? Because research suggests they can have serious side effects! What can you do? Well, simply vote with your wallet. Choose a more natural skin whitener that doesn't use any of these harsh ingredients such as Meladerm from Civant - find out more about that with the reviews at whiteningcreamreviews.com (they also have a Facebook page). It's just one case where there are natural skin lightening alternatives that have proven effective, so you don't have to buy the harsh chemical based products.

It's NOT All About Price Either

Which isn't to say you should pay top dollar, either. Generally, the kinds of make up you can find for mid-ranged prices at your local pharmacy are decent enough. There's no need to pay top dollar for things you can pay a few dollars less for, after all. Sometimes it's even better to go online where you can get exactly the same thing at a healthy discount.

You'll definitely want to avoid any make up that seem oily when they first come out of the tube or bottle. Oily make ups can, unsurprisingly, make your skin quite oily. The oil can then sit and clog up your pores, leading to facial blemishes such as pimples or even worse. Then you need even more make up to cover up the blemishes, and it becomes a never ending cycle.

You'll also want to avoid any make ups that seem gritty. Many chemicals in today's make ups are harsh on gentle skin. You'll want to avoid causing your skin any distress and discomfort, so you should avoid any make up that feels gritty. After all, if it doesn't feel comfortable rubbing between your fingers, then it won't feel comfortable rubbing on your face for hours on end, even if it does stay put.

So next time you're replacing a product, spare an extra thought about how you body will absorb that product - and maybe consider switching for a more natural version.

Sleep Eight Hours A Day and Reduce Your Chances of Getting Heart Problems

Very few people link their lack of sleep to heart problems and are only aware of the other effects like sheer exhaustion, impaired coordination, general discomfort, blurred vision and many other health problems. What many people do not know is that lack of sleep can also result in heart disease.

Medical studies have indicated people who are short of sleep have a 48% increased chance of developing heart disease and a 15% increased risk of dying from a stroke. These studies were conducted over a 25 year period and involved about almost half a million people. However, studies also indicated that people who slept for more than nine hours a night had similar increased risk of heart problems or chances of dying from a stroke.

The reason for this link between heart disease and lack of sleep has not been fully understood. The probable cause can be that shortened sleep does not allow the blood pressure to fall sufficiently, as it should after rest, and this probably increases calcification in the arteries, which is a precursor of heart disease. It is therefore very essential that you get at least six hours of sleep every night. When a person has good quality sleep, the heart rate goes down, as well as blood pressure, and this decreases the work the heart has to undertake. Heart rates normally fluctuate when you are active and when you are at rest, and when you are deprived of sleep, the heart rate will stay elevated. Lack of sleep can also increase insulin resistance, which can cause type 2 diabetes, and bring in a risk of heart disease. Less sleep can also affect the regulation of the appetite and you will probably eat more due to midnight snacking, which can increase weight and lead to heart problems.

A lack of sleep can cause a person to go into depression, and lead to a lack of energy. This in turn affects a person’s ability to have the strength to adopt a regular exercise regime. In turn, this can lead to weight problems and obesity, which are major factors that do affect the heart. The working of the immune system also gets affected, when you do not sleep enough, the body becomes more vulnerable to viruses and bacteria, leading to poor health. You will get sick more often and this opens the door to becoming vulnerable to illnesses all of which can affect the heart.

Go Nuts On Nuts: Three Ways They Can Extend Your Life

Are you a person who can normally be found with so many nuts stuffed into your cheeks you could be mistaken for a squirrel? If so, then you could be on the path to living longer than your peers. If not, you need to consider the three ways that consuming a few nuts each day can help you to live longer.

Just eating one handful of nuts each day can reduce your chance of heart disease death by 20%. Pine nuts, for example, have a high level of manganese in them. This helps the body to produce antioxidants which can fight back against diseases before they take hold. When it comes to pine nuts, however, you don't even have to concern yourself with the taste of them if you are not a nut fan. Instead, throw a handful of them into a blender with some fresh basil and good quality olive oil. Pulse the blender until combined and you've got a super healthy pesto sauce ready to accompany your meal.

If you're looking for an excuse to have another slice of your pecan pie this Thanksgiving, you're in luck if you are a male. Pecan nuts contain a chemical structure called Beta-sitosterol. Beta-sitosterol can help add extra years to your life in a number of ways. Not only does it help to reduce instances of high cholesterol and heart disease, but it helps to reduce the chance of prostate and colon cancer from developing. Just go easy on that large dollop of whipped cream as that is not as easy to justify.

If you have concern that you are going to die earlier in life because you are in the high risk bracket for a stroke or heart attack, then pistachios need to make their way into your daily eating routine. Within these little green wonders are an amino acid know as l-arginine. This acid is going to do wonders for your heart health as makes sure the heart's arteries experience better blood flow. This increased blood flow is going to reduce the chances of your heart arteries becoming clogged.

So now you have three more excuses to add a handful of tasty nuts into your daily diet. They are great for your health, and could help you to live a longer healtheir life. Now all you need to do is figure out how you are going to entertain yourself in those extra years ahead.
